Welcome to Connecticut Masters Swimming!

We are swimming for life for all ages. Connecticut Masters Swimming is an organization of over 400 men and women from age 19 to over 100 throughout the State of Connecticut.  We  offer a variety of programs for the swimming enthusiast.  We are many things to many swimmers and everyone interested in swimming is always welcome.

Provide us feedback!

25 years ago the first Masters Swim Meet "east of the Rockies" was held April 1st, 1972, at the Wilton Y, attracting 60 budding Masters Swimmers.  The official club "Conn Masters" was chartered by the AAU, with a couple dozen members.  Now we have over 400 members, from the minimum age of 19.

We've grown in numbers, and expanded in complexity.  In 1981, Connecticut Masters Swimming Committee became one of 53 Local Masters Swimming Committees (LMSCs) of United States Masters Swimming, Inc. (USMS) which is divided into eight zones.  Connecticut is associated with the Colonies Zone.

We issue sanctions and approvals for all competitions (pool and open water) and clinics held within the State.

Connecticut Masters Swim Team is presently the only USMS-registered Masters Swim Club in Connecticut, but we have a dozen active "workout groups".  Our purpose is to promote fun, fitness, safety, and competition for all members, of whatever level of ability and interest.  There's no residency requirement, so we count many treasured out-of-staters in our ranks.  We have a wonderful mix of World and National Champions, good representation in National Top Tens, those who prefer fitness and lap swimming, and everything in between.  We're equally proud of each and every one. We work out as individuals or groups in all the nooks and crannies (provided there's swimmable water) of the State.  In local meets, we'll swim for our workout groups, but out of state we all go forth as Conn Masters, our official club.  We love our Relays!

We meet quarterly as a Club, a combination of mini-meet and meeting.  Schedule of meetings as well as competitions will be published in the Newsletter.  ALL members are welcome to attend.  The Team Picnic and Christmas party are social highlights. Our major fund-raiser has been the Annual April Fools Meet.  Our traditional summer 50 meter meet is the Bobby Donnelly Memorial Long Course.

The Connecticut Masters Newsletter is mailed 11 times a year to all registered members, with entry forms for competition within the state and adjoining LMSCs (New England, Metropolitan, New Jersey, and Adirondack), Zones, USMS Short and Long Course and YMCA Masters National Championships.  Training tips, meet results, top ten listings for our members, profiles, Notes from the Golden Whale and swim related articles make up the 8-page issues.

DUES - Membership in Connecticut Masters is $35.00 (11/1/01 thru 12/31/02) which includes the Newsletter, yearly membership listing, and membership in USMS, providing liability insurance for sanctioned competitions, secondary accident/medical coverage for members at meets and supervised workouts and a subscription (6 bi-monthly issues) to SWIM Magazine.

We're an ALL VOLUNTEER organization - so the excellence of the program depends on the time and expertise You are willing to give.  Drop a line to one of the officers and offer your help.
